We politely request campers arrive before 9.30pm, but we do not have any fixed check in or check out times, and we do not close the gate at night so if you have a problem in your journey you can still come in and set up camp. (Please register in the café the next morning). We have an open field site without pitch markings, so you may choose any spot for your tent as long as you leave a car sized gap between yourselves and the next tent.
No, we do not allocate camping pitches. We have an open field site without pitch markings, so you may choose any spot for your tent or group as long as you leave a car sized gap between yourselves and the next tent.
We always allow the possibility of groups camping together, even with separate bookings. Please find a spot big enough for your group on our open field. Everyone is asked to choose their own spot here because we do not have pitch markings.
We have an open field camping ground and a certain number of tents allowed on site. We have always charged per tent. For this reason, if we allow extra tents on one booking, we will be losing out on offering a spot to another paying customer. So please remember that a single booking only covers ONE tent and NOT an area of campsite or pitch size.
Any additional tents will need to be paid for at the corresponding rate. We can perhaps offer reduced rates for 2nd and 3rd tents in special circumstances, so please give us a ring (mornings) to ask.
We can normally change or extend bookings without any issue. Extra camp days can be paid for during your stay and for complete date changes please ring us during mornings.
We allow small camper vans, but sorry, we cannot take motorhomes, (i.e. anything with a factory built toilet). Camper vans are priced the same as large tents, £25 per night.
Treacle Valley campsite is a dog friendly campsite. We allow well-behaved dogs at Treacle Valley campsite, but they must be on a lead whenever there is the risk they might wander off. We sometimes have areas available where you can exercise your dog off the lead, and there are walks to woods close by. All dog mess must be cleaned up immediately, without fail.
Cars can be parked next to tents or in our car park, you may park extra cars in either place as well (Up to a reasonable amount). We accept sign written vehicles.
Please drive slowly and carefully around the campsite, 5mph. There are children running everywhere and grass is extremely slippery when wet or dew laden. Unfortunately I occasionally see people driving too fast on site, 15mph is too fast. If you are a habitual fast driver I ask you from the bottom of my heart to drive slowly on our site, the risk is far too great, and you could only possibly save seconds going from one end to another. You need to leave a margin for error or unexpected occurrences.
If the grass is wet please park your cars in gear, facing down any tiny slope. This will help to roll out if there is no traction. Do not park with the tent downhill from your car.
Every booking must have at least one adult (over 18). If your party is mostly under 18 then we would require a contact telephone number for a parent or guardian as well.
We allow trailer tents of all sizes, and can be booked according to their size.
Apologies, but we cannot accommodate caravans here.
Please note we do not have electric hook-ups, and we only have electric in our toilet/shower block. There you can use our free plug sockets to charge devices etc.
We allow Fires and BBQs on your pitch as long as they are supported off the grass. We have a certain number of free fire pits to borrow (campsite car park). Please do not position/leave fires or BBQs close to tents and never leave unattended.
We have bags of logs for sale from a log store in the campsite car park. Please make sure you pay in our honesty box, or by bank transfer or in person in the reception the next morning. Thank you.
Treacle Valley campsite reception/café/shop is open every morning from 8.30am until 12 noon. We also open in the afternoons in high season. We are on campsite all day but taking care of jobs around the grounds.
Our reception doubles as a café and shop with great machine coffee, snacks and a few essentials.
The showers are free.
We have plug sockets in the toilet block that are free to use. There are lockable cabinets and some padlocks provided but perhaps to be sure of a padlock you could bring your own.
We have a certain number of pre-frozen freezer blocks in the campsite reception. We offer an exchange of any unfrozen ones you bring for our frozen ones. They can then be swapped back the next morning.
We have a small laundry room at one end of the toilet block. The washing machine works with 2 x £1 coins and the dryer with £1.
There are washing up sinks with hot water at the back of the toilet block.
Our nearest bus stop is on Barchington Ave, less than 10 mins walk.
We have a local Tesco and Coop 15 mins walk, over the in Torquay. There is also a cash machine, pub, chip shop, Chinese takeaway and pharmacy there too. Sainsbury’s and Lidls is a 40min walk or 5 mins in car.
