Torbay is steeped with history and is surrounded by glorious Devon countryside. We have a great selection of local pubs really close to Treacle Valley campsite doorstep, and you don't have to travel far to find other great local pubs which are just over the hill in Torquay and around the bay of Torbay.
We have compiled a list of some of our favourite local pubs in and around the Torbay area, with the closest to Treacle Valley first, and we have also included some classic pubs worth a visit, whilst out and about exploring Devon.

The Price Of Orange pub is the closest pub to Treacle Valley campsite. The Price of Orange is a traditional local pub offering live sports, pool and has a children play area.

The Price Of Orange pub is the closest pub to Treacle Valley campsite. The Prince of Orange is a traditional local pub offering completively priced drinks, live sports, pool and has a children play area.

If you’re hungry and want to eat in the pub, they do allow you to take in your own takeaway food into the pub, which is a nice touch, as there are plenty of takeaways to choose from just opposite the pub!

The Prince of Orange pub is located just over the hill in Torquay, and can be reached on foot, (about a 15-minute walk).

The Linny pubs in Coffinswell. The Linny pub is the closest pub to Treacle Valley campsite, with a short walk along the lanes to coffinswell.

The Linny pub is one of the closest pub to Treacle Valley campsite, which can be easily reached on foot along the lanes to Coffinswell, (about a mile walk: 20 mins).

The Linny is located in the beautiful village of Coffinswell and is famous for great traditional pub food, at fairly reasonable prices.

If you’re camping or glamping with us, and you fancy a stroll along some country lanes for an evening meal, or a Sunday lunch, then the Linny is a good choice. We would recommend to book in advance.

The Dolphin pub in Torquay is a local's pub. The Dolphin pub is close to Treacle Valley campsite in St. Marychurch, Torquay.

The Dolphin Inn is a locals’ pub in St. Marychurch, Torquay.

If you’re out and about in St. Marychurch and you fancy a good pint and a bite to eat, the Dolphin Inn is well worth a visit.

The Dolphin also has lots of sport on view and live entertainment at the weekends. Dogs are welcome too.

The Crown & Sceptre pub, Torquay. The Crown & Sceptre is a local's pub and is located close to Treacle Valley campsite in St. Marychurch in Torquay.

The Crown & Sceptre St. Marychurch, Torquay. This is a fantastic example of a locals pub.. The Crown and Sceptre is infamous locally as it’s renowned for its hospitality, fine selection of ales. The Crown & Sceptre has live music and host local jazz musicians every Tuesday nights. Please feel free to bring any instrument along with you when you visit this public house. Dogs are welcome too.

The Thatched Tavern Maidencombe, Torquay, for local pubs in Torbay, Devon

The Thatched Tavern is in Maidencombe which is about one mile by road from St. Marychurch. If you would like to walk the Thatched Tavern its located next to the coast path at Maidencombe, en route to Shaldon from Watcombe beach car park. Or if you fancy some watersports, then they are available for hire on Maidencombe beach. 

The Thatched Tavern serves great, hearty pub food, and also has a restaurant area. On a sunny day, the garden is great to sit out in. Dogs are welcome too.

The Thatched Tavern Steep Hill, Maidencombe, Torquay, Torbay TQ1 4TS

The Wild Goose Inn Combeinteignhead, Combeinteignhead, for local pubs near Treacle Valley campsite.

The Wild Goose is in the village of Combeinteignhead which is about halfway between Torquay and Newton Abbot along the country lanes.

The Wild Goose Inn is a traditional local pub and serves a good selection of local beers and ciders, and also offers good locally sourced produce too. The beer garden looks over the grounds of the village church.

The Church House Inn Stokeinteighhead, for local pubs close to Treacle Valley campsite.

The Church House Inn resides in the heart of the village Stokeinteignhead, and was built by the church in the 13th century. The Church House Inn supports local traders and serves locally sourced produce.

The Drum Inn Cockington, Torquay, for local pubs in Torbay

The Drum Inn resides in Cockington Country Park, in Torquay. The Drum Inn is owned and run by vintage Inns, so unfortunately it feels a bit like a chain, but the food is reasonable, and it still feels like a classic old coach house, local pub. The Drum also has the draw of Cockington Court, and Country Park which are all worth a visit.

The Church House Inn, Marldon, for traditional local pubs close to Treacle Valley campsite in Devon.

The Church House Inn is just outside Paignton in Marldon. The Church House Inn is a lovely country pub and is renowned for it award winning local food, great hospitality, great beers and wines and also has a lovely beer garden.

The Coombe Cellars Combeinteignhead, Combeinteignhead, for local pubs near Treacle Valley campsite, Devon.

The Coombe Cellars is in an ideal location right on the edge of the river Teign. I think this is one of the best places to be to watch the sun go down as it sets along the river and up over the Dartmoor moors. The Coombe Cellers is also on the Templer Way, an historic local walk. The Coombe Cellars is owned by a chain, but is well worth a visit particularly if your travelling in groups as the pub is setup for large gatherings with plenty of space available. It serves imaginative food and stocks local ales.

The Carpenters Arms Public House, a traditional local pub in Devon.

The Carpenter Arms is in Ilsington village en route to Dartmoor National Park. I found this pub whilst walking the Templar Way which eventually ends up at Haytor on Dartmoor. I was made very welcome and ate a hearty pub dinner with all the trimmings. Great food and great local beers.

The Steam Packet Inn is next to the River Dart just down river from Totnes. This pub has gone upmarket in recent years but is still worth a visit on your travels in and around Torbay, especially on a sunny day when you can sit outside by the river. The Steam Packet serves local beer and great food. You can get to the Steam Packet Totnes by boat from Torquay.

The Rugglestone Inn Dartmoor Devon. Visiting great local pubs in Dartmoor Devon, whilst camping or glamping at the Treacle Valley campsite, Devon.

The Rugglestone Inn in Widecombe on the moor is probably our favourite local pub. The Rugglestone Inn is in my opinion a real local’s pub. The Inn sits next to a stream and has geese and duck and all roaming about in the garden.

Good honest food and beer from the barrel can be found at the Rugglestone Inn. If you wish to eat inside, we would recommend booking your table before you arrive.

Dartmoor National Park is a fantastic place to visit for all the family!
