We have complied a list of restaurants, pubs, café's and café bars in Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and also eating out establishments further afield worth visiting, whilst on holiday at Treacle Valley campsite.
We're really spoilt for choice for great eating out establishments which are really close to Treacle Valley campsite. As there are so many restaurants, pubs and café's to choose from, we have added some of our favourites we frequent, and some which have been recommended by our friends, and would gladly share them with our campers & glampers.

The Bay Tree Cafe is one of our favourite cafe’s in St. Marychurch. Located at the other end of St. Marychurch high street, past the post office and on the way to Babbacombe, which is close to Treacle Valley campsite.
The Bay Tree café is a traditional, reasonable priced café which specialises in great breakfasts and lunches.

Driftwood Café is ideal for a proper coffee in the morning, breakfast or lunches.
When visiting St. Marychurch whilst camping at Treacle Valley campsite, you’ll notice that there are plenty cafés to choose from in St. Marychurch precinct, and they all have their specialities and menu’s to suite everyone. Driftwood café is also licensed and runs special themed evening events and menu’s through the year.

The Dolphin Inn is a locals’ pub in St. Marychurch. It serves good beer and some great home cooked comfort food.
If you’re out and about in and around St. Marychurch and you fancy a good pint and a bite to eat, the Dolphin is worth a visit.
The Dolphin also has live entertainment at the weekends.

Three Degrees West Bar & Bistro is new to Babbacombe (2015) and has become an instant success story. With its classy surrounding and imaginative menu’s, Three Degrees West was destined to succeed. Located right on the front at Oddicombe beach, the bistro enjoys spectacular views over Babbacombe Bay and Lyme Bay.
For those not wishing to tackle the hill down to Oddicombe beach, you could use the Babbacombe Cliff Railway.

The Buccaneer is a pub with a difference. The Buccaneer, hence the name, has a subtle pirate theme running throughout serves good beer, good food, and is good value for money. The burgers are very popular, but you should check out their specials board, which is always interesting.
The Buccaneer is right on Babbacombe Downs and is fortunate to have a decked area at the front, so it’s a great place to eat outside on a sunny day.

The Babbacombe Inn is a really good eating-out destination as it can cater for large families and groups with ease.
The Babbacombe Inn is situated right opposite Babbacombe Downs and has a large car park, and outside seating which also includes a small children’s play area.
If you’re looking for some good pub grub, The Babbacombe is highly recommended!

Mirch Masala is a good old Indian curry house. Located in Babbacombe high street, the Mirch Masala offers a warm welcome, good food and a nice atmosphere and is hard to beat for value.

Anstey’s Cove café is right on the waterfront on Anstey’s cove beach. If you’re out and about and in the vicinity the café offers traditional seaside delights including a full English breakfast, sandwiches etc. On a fine day Anstey’s cove is a fantastic spot it Torquay, you can even enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine too.

Mr & Mrs Jones is a traditional deli which serves fresh homemade food, and it also has licence too.
Located in leafy Wellswood just up the road from Kents Cavern, in Torquay. Here you can submerge yourself in all the splendour of a Victorian high street, which is surrounded by villas.
Mr & Mrs Jones is highly recommended as the food is quirky and delicious.

The Kents is located in Wellswood, one of the leafy districts in Torquay.
Wellswood still retains a little village feel with a local village school and row of shops. The Kents public house is right at the heart of Wellswood and has a busy, vibrant atmosphere. The food is good and reasonable priced for the area and is purchased locally.

Meadfoot beach café is worth getting up for breakfasts. On a fine day, the sun rises on the horizon and the café at Meadfoot beach is the place to be. The breakfasts are great and reasonable priced, but you can’t buy the view, Torbay at its best!

The Terrace is Torquay’s finest alfresco dining venue. The Terrace is The Osborne Hotel’s terrace restaurant. On a fine day, there is no better place to eat in Torbay. A fantastic location surrounded by victorian opulence, with the stunning views of meadfoot beach and Torbay. The food at The Terrace is cooked fresh and barbecued food is its specialities.
The Osborne Hotel is my favourite hotel in Torquay. If you’re planning to eat out whilst staying at Treacle Valley campsite, we would recommend ‘The Terrace’ for lunch.

Fine Dining Restaurants in Torbay
During the 19th century Tor Bay, as it was known then, began to develop into a fashionable seaside resort, initially frequented by members of the Royal Navy and as the town's fame spread, by Victorian society. With all the splendour and pomp, Torbay gained the name 'The English Riviera'.
Today we have many award-winning, fine dining restaurants dotted around Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, with some worth a visit just for the views. We have added some of the fine dining restaurants which we have eaten in ourselves, and restaurants which have been recommended to us by our friends.
The Crescent Bar Restaurant is situated in The Osborne Hotel, which is one of Torbay’s finest hotels. The Osborne Hotel is set in an amazing regency crescent which overlooks meadfoot beach, and over the bay of Torbay, to Berry Head in Brixham.
The Crescent Bar Restaurant is a fine dining restaurant. Its romantic and grand setting lends itself to special occasions, a place to relax and enjoy great food in a spectacular place. Along with The Crescent Bar Restaurant, the Osborne hotel also owns On The Terrace, which are both worth a mention, so we have listed them separately.

The Old Vienna restaurant is run by Werner Rott, an Austrian Chef. Warner Rott has vast culinary skills and experience and, as the name suggests, The Old Vienna specialises in Austrian cuisine with a contemporary twist. If you want to experience food with a difference, and some great hospitality, the Old Vienna is for you.

The Orange Tree Restaurant is tucked away behind Torquay’s,Torward Street on Parkhill Road. The Orange Tree is a very well established restaurant and has many awards and Rosetts to it name. The Orange tree is run by husband and wife whom appreciate good cuisine, comfort and hospitality.

Number 7 Fish Bistro is Torbay’s premier fish restaurant. Located at Beacon Terrace, which overlooks Torquay Harbour. Number 7 Fish Bistro is very popular and holds several AA Rosette Awards and a ‘trip advisor’ certificate of excellence. We advise you to book early as Number 7 is very busy.

The Elephant is probably Torquay’s most acclaimed fine dining restaurants and has several awards to its name, including a Michelin Star. The Elephant Restaurant promotes sustainable, locally sourced produce, and specialises in local fish from Brixham.
The Elephant has two floors which includes a brasserie, bar and restaurant. Located on Torquay’s harbourside, the Elephant also enjoys the views across Torquay and the bay of Torbay.

The Orestone Manor is a boutique hotel and has established itself as a one of Torquay’s fine dining restaurants. The Orestone Manor is just up the road from Maidencombe beach and can easily be walked to via ‘The South West Coast Path’.
The Orestone Manor offers a fresh traditional English menu, with a twist of modern European influence and wherever possible their fresh vegetables are home grown in The Orestone Manor’s kitchen garden. The views from The Orestone are also pretty spectacular.

The Thatched tavern is in Maidencombe which is on the outskirts of Torquay along the coast road to Shaldon. For the more adventurous, the Thatched Tavern is in walking distance from Treacle Valley campsite, along the South West Coast path.
The Thatched Tavern serves traditional pub food with flair. On a sunny day, the garden offers a great place to eat outside.

Amici is Torquay’s premier independent Italian restaurant. Located close to Torquay’s harbour, Amici’s is right in the heart of Torquay’s main eating out street, Torwood street. On Torwood street, you will find everyone’s favourite food available, from seafood to Mexican. Amici is always full, so we would recommend booking your table.

Ephuses restaurant serves traditional Turkish and Greek food. Ephuses restaurant is relatively new to Torquay’s Torwood street restaurant scene, but since opening in 2014, Ephuses has been warmly received and has become an instant success with the locals. The food and the atmosphere is truly authentic, and the people are lovely.

If you're in Torquay, then why not pop down to the harbour. There are plenty of café bars and restaurants to eat out in, so you can soak up the atmosphere of the bustling heart of Torquay.
The Hole in the Wall is Torquay’s oldest pub. Now a very popular pub and restaurant, the Hole in the Wall serves great traditional and imaginative pub food. The pub still retains its oldie worldly feel and has a big local following. The Hole in the wall also has live entertainment on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Rockfish seafood restaurant opened right on Torquay harbourside in 2014, and has been an instant success story.
The first Rockfish opened in Dartmouth, and now the Rockfish brand is being rolled out. The simple, contemporary, yet stylish restaurant theme and food is really well done. Rockfish is also licensed, so you can drink a nice glass of Chablis with your fish and chips.
You can also buy fresh fish from Rockfish fishmongers in Brixham. Why not get the ferry from Torquay to Brixham and enjoy a day out in Brixham by boat!

Located right on Torquay harbour side, with stunning views of Torbay, number 22 offers an eclectic modern menu and serves delicious fresh local produce.

Pier Point restaurant and bar is situated in a prime location right in the middle of Torquay’s promenade and next to the Princess Theatre.
Pier Point restaurant prides itself by serving fresh local produce and its menus are fresh and inviting. On a warm summer evening, it’s hard to beat the atmosphere in and around Pier Point. Pier point is an ideal location to eat at before or after a show at Princess Theatre next door, or after a trip around the bay on a boat trip.

The Visto Lounge café bar is located right on Torquay’s sea front, opposite Torre Abbey Sands Beach, Torquay’s main beach.
The Visto lounge is a happening place which offers a huge range of good modern continental style food for all the family. It’s also a great place to have a cocktail or two on a summer’s evening, too!

The Drum is a chain pub and is owned by Vintage Inns. We have to mention The Drum Inn twice in our website, purely because it’s a great place to eat and drink whilst out exploring the Cockington estate.

Eating out at Occombe farm is a pleasant experience as all the produce is either grown on the farm or sourced from local producers.
There is plenty to do see and do at the farm Occombe farm. Family days out, workshops, exhibitions and festivals. Occombe farm, Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust.
If you’re self-catering at Treacle Valley campsite, Occombe farm also has a great farm shop for fresh culinary delights.

The Boat House Bar & Grill is a nice contemporary bar and grill. Located at the Paignton end of Preston Sands beach, the Boat House is blessed with very fine panoramic views around the bay of Torbay and a great place for a drink and a bite to eat for lunch or for dinner.

The Shoreline is located right on Paignton seafront the Shoreline restaurant is fortunate to be actually perched above of the promenade, with Paignton Sands beach, harbour and the bay of Torbay as a backdrop, the views are spectacular.
The Shoreline serves bistro type cuisine with a contemporary style, and it has some awards to its name too. Live music entertainment is also available at Shoreline.

Whether you're on a family holiday, or just visiting for the weekend, the bay of Torbay has lots of interesting places to eat out and enjoy!
The Costero Lounge i relatively new to Paignton’s seafront. Part of the Lounges Group (Visto Lounge in Torquay), the Costero lounge is a modern eatery with a European style menu’s and drinks.
Located on Paignton Sands beach and right next to the Geoplay Park, and the cinema, the Costero lounge is an ideal place for families and groups to relax and enjoy some good food and beverages, whilst out and about in Paignton.

The Siam Thai Garden restaurant in my opinion is Torbay’s top Thai restaurant. I think Thai food is the best food in the world, and learnt to cook in on my travels around Thailand. The Thai garden is well presented and a good taste of Thailand.

The Harbour Light pun, restaurant is located right next to Paignton harbour and has great views over the harbour and the bay of Torbay.
The Harbour Light is renowned for good honest food and can cater for large families and groups, and is dog friendly too.
When we’re in Brixham, we head to the Brixham Yacht club for lunch. Open to non-members (sign the visitor’s book) there is no better place to eat in Brixham. Located right above Brixham harbour, the yacht club serves good, wholesome food at very reasonable prices. We normally get the ferry to Brixham from Torquay.

Rock Fish in Brixham is located right next to Brixham harbour, seaport and fish market. The restaurant has two floors and is well worth a visit, just for the views.
Renowned for fresh fish, the Rock Fish in Brixham is one of the best places to eat fresh fish!
For your camping barbecue, if you would like to buy some fresh fish whilst in Brixham, rock fish has its very own fishmonger here too …

Shoals, café bar, restaurant is located right next to Brixham Lido and Shoalstone Beach & Shoalstone Pool, and has spectacular views across Torbay and all the way to Torquay and beyond.
Shoals specialises in seafood and offers fantastic fresh seafood menus throughout the day.
If you’re planning to go to Shoals for lunch, it’s a good idea to book your selves in!
